Westlock RCMP release pictures of suspects in attempted firehall break-ins

Police looking for silver 2008 Dodge 1500 with a burnt-out taillight in suspected break-ins at Northern Alberta fire halls.

With wildfire season already underway, Westlock RCMP are concerned following recent attempted break-ins at several Westlock area fire halls.

In a press release sent out Sunday evening, Westlock RCMP said there were attempted break-ins at various fire halls in the Westlock area on the nights of April 20 and 21. They believe the attempts may be connected and are asking for the public’s help to identify suspects.

Police obtained photos of a suspect and a vehicle, along with a description.

The vehicle is described as a silver 2008 Dodge 1500 with a burnt-out taillight. A Ford pickup was also seen in the area at the times of the attempted break-ins.

"Though nothing was stolen so far, had a break-in been successful, it could have put the public at risk,” said Westlock RCMP Const. Jarrett Taylor.

"Ahead of this fire season, firefighters need their tools to stop a fire, gain access to structures, and enter vehicles in an emergency to save your loved ones.”

Anyone who has information or footage regarding this incident is asked to please contact the Westlock RCMP at 780-349-4491, or your local police. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the "P3 Tips" app available through the Apple App or Google Play store.
